Reaching B1 German in nine months sounds like a promise too good to be true. Most language schools quote twelve to eighteen months, and many self-learners spend years drifting between A2 and B1. Why B1 is the level that changes everything
B1 is where the German system starts to work for you. It is the threshold for most Ausbildung contracts, the minimum for many nursing positions, and the level at which everyday life stops being a guessing game. At B1 you can open a bank account without a translator, describe symptoms to a doctor, and follow a work meeting well enough to contribute.
Employers and visa officers use B1 as a proxy for something deeper: your commitment and your ability to function independently. Nine months is only enough if every week has a clear job. Speaking before perfection
The fastest students are the ones who speak badly first. By month seven, most of our students can describe their job, their family and their plans in Germany for five minutes without preparing. That is not fluency, and it does not need to be. It is B1: enough German to survive and to signal that you are on the path to more.

The nine-month plan, week by week
Months one and two build A1 foundations: pronunciation, basic verbs, survival situations. Months three through five push through A2 — daily routines, past tense, workplace vocabulary. Months six through nine focus entirely on B1: exam structures, formal writing, and the speaking confidence that carries you through the interview.
